James Greenspan

ABOUT

James Greenspan concentrates his practice on representing medical providers in reimbursement disputes with commercial health insurance carriers. Over more than fifteen years, he has won thousands of arbitration awards and recovered more than $750 million for his medical provider clients. His practice is active in the New Jersey, New York, and No Surprises Act (NSA) arbitration forums, as well as in state and federal litigation. He also has extensive experience representing medical providers in New Jersey No-Fault (“PIP”) arbitrations and workers’ compensation matters.

James is a former member of the Forthright Advisory Council for No-Fault Disputes in the State of New Jersey, which is responsible for revising arbitration rules and selecting and reviewing the applications of potential new arbitrators. He has lectured for the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education on PIP arbitrations, and for the New Jersey Society of Plastic Surgeons, the New York Regional Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the Healthcare Financial Management Association on the No Surprises Act arbitration process and medical revenue recovery.

He also negotiated a significant settlement in Prime Neuro Spine Institute v. Maximus, Inc., representing a group of New Jersey medical providers in a suit against the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance (DOBI) and its contractor, Maximus. The settlement required the defendants to vacate and remand four “surprise bill” arbitration decisions previously decided against the providers and to update the forum’s FAQ guidance to prevent future misapplication of the law.

James graduated cum laude from Villanova University in 2006, and Seton Hall University School of Law in 2009. He is admitted to practice law in the States of New Jersey, Connecticut, and New York, and federally in The United States District Courts for the District of New Jersey, the District of Connecticut, and the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
